The perfect nail shades

Last week I was introduced to the lovely nail-technician sisters Vernice and Ange Walker – the names behind the spectacular nail varnish range Rococo Nail Apparel. The colours are so subtle and spot on that they reminded me of Farrow & Ball paints, which always seem to make those washed-out hues look fabulously expensive. Although the collection is only a few years old, the Walker sisters have been working as nail technicians for over a decade – on photo shoots , celebrities and fashion shows, and simply know what’s hot and what’s not.  I really love their Le Boudoir Noir Collection, the new resort collection for 2013. It’s classic yet has a twist and was inspired by the secret chambre of Madame de Pompadour, the king of Versailles’ infamous mistress. “If Madame de Pompadour had been alive today she would wear those colours,” they tell me with a smile. The varnishes are no-doubt fun and very on-trend, but perhaps their greatest triumph is the fact that they really suit all skin tones.  When I ask them how they achieved this they tell me it’s the way they mix the colours and the degrees of grey they pun in each shade. The collection consists of: Whisper of Envy (calm and serene but with a touch of green envy), Rose de Pompadour (a powdery porcelain rose) and Mistress (sultry, dark & smokey) and to tell you the truth I really couldn’t tell you which I love the most…

Rococo Nail Apparel La Boudoir Noir Collection is priced at £12 each and will be launching in Space NK and leading spas from January 2012
