Us brits love a good old cup of tea – in fact there’s never a time I’d refuse one! – but as I like to avoid caffeine I’ve been exploring other options and alternatives to a good old mug of PG Tips. The Ultimate Beautea from Viridian, not only quenches your thirst, it can also become part of your beauty regime, as its packed-full of antioxidants and acts as a cleanser (it’s part of the Viridian Nutrition range of ethical food supplements and organic beauty products). This brew is a delicately aromatic antioxidant and cleansing blend that contains ingredients such as hibiscus flowers, rose petals (rosa damascena), calendula petals, chamomile flowers, licorice root and cleavers leaf.
When you open the jar the tea smells of dried flowers and of what is perhaps a hint of licorice, which you’ll definitely taste once in hot water. I’ve been making my tea in a teapot, as it doesn’t come in tea bags and leave it to brew for around 5 minutes before serving, but you could also leave the tea in the hot water (one heaped teaspoon should be all you need). It contains no nasty additives whatsoever and is 100% organic and caffeine-free too, making it ideal to drink as and when you fancy it.
The tea looks light yellow in colour, and tastes like slightly sweet camomile so you don’t need to add any sweetener to it. It’s a lovely refreshing cup of tea that I’ve really got into, and it’s an welcome alternative to the usual herbal teas on the market.
The Ultimate Beautea is part of the Viridian Nutrition 180+ range of award-winning food supplements and beauty products, and it’s available from The Nutri Centre at £12.00 for 50g of tea. For more information go to www.nutricentre.com
