Mummy Dearest

laiafarrangraves_beautyspotIf you haven’t already done so, you still have time to spoil your mum this Mother’s Day. And if your mum – like most mums – enjoys a relaxing experience in the comfort of her own home, what better gift than a good old-fashioned bubble bath?
I’m a big fan of bubble baths, especially in winter and, as far as I’m concerned, the more foam the better. So I’ve always enjoy Radox products because they really deliver, especially when it comes to bubbles. I love their new products, in particular their new Spa Soothe Bath Soak with Fig and caring natural Neroli Oil. It’s a delicate blend of milk, natural fig and neroli oil that create a relaxing scent with a hint or orange that gives it a lovely zest so it’s not your classic heavy floral smell. As with the rest of the range, the bubble bath is very soft on the skin, helping to hydrate it and condition it while bathing.
Let’s face it, Radox is a real classic and you really can’t go wrong with such a staple, tried-and-tested product. And the best thing about it is the price: an impressive £2.21 per 500ml bottle. So while you’re at it…why no treat yourself too?
Other new fragrances from the brand include Radox’s limited edition Eastern Spirit, a rejuvenating blend with oriental lotus flower and orange blossom, and an equally intoxicating fragrance.

The Radox Shower and Bath range is available Nationwide at Boots, Sainsbury & Tesco.

Utter Indulgence

laiafarrangraves_beautyspotJust in time for Valentine’s Day, Korres – one of my favourite brands (a Greek skincare brand with roots in Athens’ first ever Homeopathic Pharmacy) – is launching a very special gift set: the Wild Rose Skincare Collection. The rose, a traditional symbol of love and beauty and the beloved flower of the Goddess Aphrodite, is the main ingredient in this collection, which contains a Japanese Rose Body Butter (250ml), a Japanese Rose Shower Gel (250ml) and a Wild Rose Lip Butter (6g), all of which  are particularly hydrating and illuminating on the skin.

Wild Rose oil is a natural source of vitamin C, which demonstrates significant repairing activity to fine lines and skin colour disorders.

The shower gel smells of very fresh rose petals and leaves your skin feeling velvety-soft and cleansed, whilst the body milk is highly nourishing (rich in aloe and almond oil) but slightly sweeter in scent and instantly absorbed into the skin. The Wild Rose Lip Butter is also buttery and slightly tinted, giving your lips a gorgeous natural rose-tinted glow. It contains shea butter and rice wax to provide deep hydration, which is perfect for this time of year. All is all it’s a great package and, given the superb quality of the products, it’s very reasonably priced. I thoroughly enjoyed it!

Korres Valentines Day Japanese Rose Gift Set Retails for RRP: £20.00 (€25.00) and is available to buy online from

Raspberry Kiss

Laiafarrangraves_beautyspotWith Valentine’s day around the corner I simply couldn’t resist checking out this beautiful bath and shower get from Treacle Moon called Raspberry Kiss. The colour is gorgeous – that lovely raspberry sorbet pink, and in the bath tub it foams like there’s no tomorrow. But one of the things I like about it and that makes it stand out from the rest, is that it has that same sharp sweetness that raspberries taste of, as opposed to the artificially sickly sweet sweetness other cosmetic berry products sometimes smell of. I also love the softness of the soap on the skin, making bath time feel like a real treat and an opportunity to create that ‘me time’ we so long after a long day (soaking lazily in a generously foamy bath, candle light, your favourite music in the background…you get the picture!). The packaging is also very striking, and will stand out in your bathroom making this a great Valentine’s day gift. But the best thing of all? Check out the price…

The name of the rose

laiafarrangraves_beautyspotIf you’re heading for a romantic getaway this Valentine’s day here is a travel essentials bag with a difference. From Di Palomo, the Tuscan Rose travel essentials bag contains everything you will ever need on your short break: a hand and body lotion, a conditioning shampoo, a hand and nail cream and a moisturising body wash for bath or shower. It also contains a luxurious cleansing soap and a bamboo face cloth, all in a beautiful easy-wipe make-up bag in a gorgeous and very romantic rose design. But apart from the great range of products it contains, the products themselves are absolutely divine. The rose scent is fresh and light – not powdery and old-fashioned at all! – evoking the sweetness of wild climbing roses. My favourite item in the set is the moisturising body wash, which is very, very  creamy and luxurious indeed, and has added moisturisers including Pro-Vitamin B5 to help nourish and hydrate your skin, which is really essential especially when travelling. It will make a lovely gift too, so next time you go on a trip do it in style and treat yourself (or someone you love) to this divine collection of essentials.

The set retails at £18. For more information go to

Dreaming of tropical blooms…

Picture 800These seemingly ever-lasting cold months can be  challenging at times (finding it hard to get up in the morning?), but a great way to beat the winter blues is to dream of a tropical island and lose yourself in your daydream. And what better way to do just that than with a gorgeous tropical-scented shower scrub? The Tropical Blooms smoothing shower scrub from Madara Spa is the perfect antidote to a sluggish start to the day and will transport you to a beautifully relaxed mind-set. Inspired by the exotic fragrance of Thailand, Tropical Blooms contains ylang yland and Jasmine – two of my favourite scents –  which will envelope you and give you luxury-spa feel. You can use the scrub once a week, using circular movements to make the most of the granules as they exfoliate your dry skin cells away. It will leave your skin feeling smooth and hydrated, ready for the day ahead.

Bath time special

LaiafarrangravesbeautyspotblogAs the year comes to a close you might be feeling in the mood to start detoxing, ready for your New Year’s resolutions. One way to ease into a new, healthier regime is to exfoliate and detoxify the body. And a gentle way to start doing that is by soaking in a long, hot bath. I tried Miss Pattiserie’s delices du bain, a collection of gorgeous handcrafted ‘Bath Bakes‘ (including gorgeous cupcakes!) which you dissolve in the bath. To use, peel off the wrapper and drop the whole Bath Bake in the water.  Once the base has completely fizzed away you can use the top as an exfoliator by rubbing gently on your skin in circular motions. I tried the lemon flavoured Mini Bath Bake – perfect for detoxing because of its zesty, sharp and sweet scent. I Laiafarangravesbeautyspotalso tried one of their irresistible ice lollies called  La La Lime. I loved its citrus smell, which was slightly sweeter that the lemon Mini Bath Bake and very uplifting. Tu use, simply swirl the ‘ice lolly’ in the water – which in in itself is very relaxing! – and enjoy the effect of the nourishing and hydrating oils and salts as you soak in the bath dreaming of the cool summer days or trying to figure out what your New Year’s Resolutions will be…
The entire collection is simply divine, and reasonably priced. The perfect treat for yourself – especially in the winter months – or a great and very original gift. For more information go to

The La La Lime lolly is priced at £2.99 and the Mini Bath Bakes are £4.50.

Wake-up your skin

laiafarrangraves_beautyspotIf you like your skin to feel really clean, this is the shower gel for you. Australian Bodycare has a fabulous Tea Tree Oil Skin Wash that is antiseptic yet doesn’t dry out the skin. Using natural, active ingredients this product restores the skin’s natural pH balance whilst cleaning thoroughly and killing bacteria, but unlike other strong cleansers, it’s mild enough for use on sensitive skin. It’s a great daily wash and the sharp smell of Tea Tree Oil will certainly wake you up in the morning. It also inhibits spot-causing bacteria, so it’s ideal if you’re prone to breakouts. This non-drying formula is suitable for everyday use by all the family and contains 2% Tea Tree Oil. And if you’re stuck for a Christmas gift for a male friend, this could be your answer as it has a strong, natural scent that is not perfumed.
