Gift set alert: Korres Pamper Me Up

KORRES is a fantastic Greek skincare brand that I absolutely love. It’s conscious of its ingredients – using natural and organic where ever possible and avoiding anything potentially harmful across its product range. And now, just in time for Christmas, it has launched a series of gift sets containing  its worldwide best sellers, making them a sure hit if you’re looking for stocking fillers or beauty gifts for yourself or your loved ones. My favourite one in the range is Sleeping Beauty, a great pack ideal for travelling or sleepovers. beautyspot

The set contains some great essentials: a shower gel, a facial cleanser, a lipstick butter, and a 24 hour moisturising cream that contains wild rose.

One of my favourite skin ingredients is rose, and so is my husband’s, so this is one I’ll have to share with him…The Wild Rose 24-hour cream SPF6 normal-dry 16ml is very hydrating as it contains Wild Rose oil, a natural source of Vitamin C and what I love about it the most is the smell and the fact that it has an SPF in it, perfect to use to combat the winter sun. The Basil Lemon shower gel 40ml is another classic product that you’ll enjoy for its creamy, hydrating texture and divine smell – especially in the morning as the lemon zest gives you a kick. The White Tea fluid gel cleanser 16ml is a gel that foams slightly giving you that sensation of really cleansing your skin. It contains vegetable derived soap substitutes with oat proteins in its formula for maximum moisturising. The final product in this collection is the Korres Wild Rose mandarin lip butter stick 5ml in Rose, a great butter stick that is ideal to use on your lips  during the harsh, cold winter months. This particular product has a hint of pink, giving you a barely-there make up look that is so on-trend right now, and simply exudes a healthy groomed look. It also has an SPF 15 to ensure your lips are totally kissable.

Barely there strawberry kiss

laiafarrangravesIf you like to wear natural looking make-up, you will love this product. It’s called Tin o’ Tint Strawberry, and it’s a coloured lip balm. This time of year, when the weather gets cold and windy, it’s essential that you moisturise your lips with a good lip balm, so this clever little product will multitask for you, giving you both the moisture you need and a touch of colour plus adding a delicious strawberry flavour to the mix. The colour is great, as it’s more of a stain than a lipstick, which is very on trend right now – i. e. natural lips with a hint of blush and healthy looking eyebrows. It highlights your lips ever so slightly to give you that healthy glow and make your teeth look a touch whiter. It’s ideal to wear in the day but also at night if you want to look understated but groomed.

It comes from Miners cosmetics and it’s priced at £2.99, making it a great stocking filler or gift to yourself 😉 We love it at Beauty Spot!

Heavenly Soap

laiafarrangraves-beautyspot

This gorgeous soap, has recently been introduced to Whole Foods Market, and is the perfect example of a luxury brand that successfully embraces all things organic. The Rose and Geranium Indulge Soap Bar from Jardins D’EDEN – part of their extremely special Indulge range – has regenerating and nourishing properties as well as being beautifully scented and in impressive packaging. I’ve been using it in the shower and have found that it works best as a face cleanser (as opposed to an overall body wash) as it’s light, delicate and very nourishing in texture –  and the more I use it the softer it gets, making its application even easier and its performance even better. The soap’s main ingredients are Rose and Geranium 100% essential oils, Pink Clay, Olive Oil, Shea Butter and Rosehip Oil. Hand made in London, the formulation is free from artificial colourings, Parabens and other nasties and also comes in Lavender Ylang Ylang if you like a more relaxing scent. Either way the products are stunning and will enhance your morning or evening shower ritual and do wonders for your skin.

Our natural Olive oil based soap recipe is enriched with Shea butter and Rosehip oil. Each luxurious soap has its own unique therapeutic essential oil blend wrapped with nutritive botanic ingredients to offer a complete range of natural care for all types of skins.

For more information go to www.jardinsdeden.co.uk. The Rose and Geranium Indulge Soap Bar is priced at £8 and available online, and Harrods and at Whole Foods Market.

Perfume Paradise

laiafarrangraves_beautyspotI’m a big fan of Yardley London‘s fragrances, I love their timeless, classic elegance, and the latest fragrance, Polaire is as quintessentially Yardley as the rest of them. It’s named after the French 1920s silent film actress, and it encapsulates the glamour and female empowerment of the Roaring Twenties.  The scent is a floral Chypre (a perfume that is composed of citrus top-notes, a floral middle  and a mossy-animalic base-note), which were very popular at that time. The nose behind this fragrance is Juliette Karagueuzoglou, and it opens with top notes of green, pear and freesia, follows with a spicy floral heart of rose, and as a base it includes sensual patchouli and amber. In keeping with the overall theme, the bottle has a beautiful Art Deco design the hints at vintage and would look stunning on any dressing table or bathroom counter. When I first tried it on, it felt a bit on the strong side, but once the perfume had settled I was left with a delicate fruity floral scent that I really enjoyed (and got a few inquiries too!). It’s the sort of Eau de Toilette that can be carried through from daytime to evening and is sweet enough to make an impression but isn’t too overpowering. It’s feminine, chic and sensual and would suit any age because of its ingredient combination. If you’re looking for a new fragrance check this one out…it may just be the one!

Polaire Eau de Toilette 50ml is priced at £19.99, and is available at Boots, Lloyds, Morrisons, Sainsburys, independent chemists and online at yardleylondon.co.uk.

Pure luxury…

If you have dry skin, you might not have found that perfect product that will give you the extra hydration you need without overdoing it. If that’s your story, you might want to try out the Heavenly Face Rose Elixir from  Jardins D’Eden. It’s an oil that has  been formulated to be used  as both daily and night treatment depending on how dry your skin is. The oil is a blend of essential oils of Rose (which is toning), Frankincense (which is rejuvenating) and Geranium (which is regenerating). Presented in a spray this elixir is lighter than other face oils I’ve tried. It also contains Sweet Almond Oil, Rosehip Oil, Jojoba seed Oil, Borage Oil and Evening Primrose Oil, packed with nutrients for your skin.

I love the scent of this product, because although its main component is rose there is also a subtle geranium after-scent that is very fresh and uplifting. And the glass bottle it comes in is beautiful and very elegant indeed!

There are two other face elixirs in the range: Heavenly Face Yling Yang – for combination to oily skin – and Heavenly Face Neroli – for all types of skin.

Our facial elixirs are 100% natural base and essential oils, formulated for the daily care of the skin or as a night treatment. A blend of softening Sweet Almond Oil, nourishing and Vitamin A rich Apricot Kernel, anti-oxidant Rosehip Oil, sebum balancing Jojoba seed Oil and healing Borage Oil.

Find out more on www.jardinsdeden.co.uk. The Facial Elixirs are priced at £28.00.

Miniature bliss

If you’ve been following my blog, you’ll know how much I love organic products that really work. So Weleda’s Body Oils gift set is really up my street. As they are small sizes, it’s a great way to try out the oils before knowing which one you love the most and committing to buying the full size. The smaller sizes are also ideal for taking to the gym, or carrying in your hand luggage or handbag. There are five oils in the set that are guaranteed to cover all bases: Wild Rose Body Oil (to pamper), Pomegranate Regenerating Body Oil (to regenerate), Citrus Refreshing Body Oil (to stimulate), Lavender Relaxing Body Oil (to relax) and Sea Buckthorn Body Oil (to nourish and restore). So you have an oil for every need and state of mind you could possibly find yourself in. The bottles are 10ml each and the oils are so pure they are even suitable for vegans.

One extraordinary product…

Ready to revitalise your skin? This is a great product that you can use alone or in conjunction with your existing beauty regime. Melvita’s Rose Extraordinary Water truly captures the power and scent of the flowers used to create it. It’s designed as a skin prep lotion and it has an unusually gel-like consistency that feels lovely on the skin: not quite liquid not quite like a serum. It’s formulated with Hyaluronic Acid from soya and Organic Glycerine that lock in moisture and, because it contains Rose, it has anti-ageing and rejuvenating properties. It also has March Clover in the mix, which is firming and  improves the overall contour of the face. It’s suggested that you use it twice a day (morning and evening) but you can, in fact, use it at any time you feel that your skin is in need of a quick pick me up.
It’s very addictive, and you’ll be surprised how quickly it’s absorbed into the skin!
