Is your skin in need of a boost? Here is a great, brand-new product that could give you that little extra you’re after. The Anti-ageing face serum from Balance Me is an active, potent product that contains angelica and neroli to target the visible signs of ageing. Its formula also includes conditioning abyssinian oil, shea butter and the the purest grade of hyaluronic acid to help bind the water within the intercellular structure of the skin. It’s 100% natural so it’s safe to use no matter your skin type. To use it, smooth a few drops (you really won’t need much at all!) on your skin after cleansing in the morning and evening, and rub into it using firm movements. After you have applied the serum, make sure you use some moisturiser to lock in the moisture and protect your skin. It’s a lovely scent – slightly lemony but also very earthy – that will brighten up your complexion and help your skin’s elasticity to be at its optimum. It should also last you a very long time as you literally just need to apply a few drops at a time. A good start to my New Year regime!
A 100% natural, potent anti-ageing serum with anti-oxidant rich blackberry seed extract and ultra-hydrating pure hyaluronic acid designed to target lines and wrinkles, protect from environmental damage and restore your skins natural youthfulness.

As you probably know by now if you’ve been following my blog, I am a big fan of organic products that really work. Gone are the days where performance versus natural ingredients need to compromise to achieve fantastic results. So when I read about how great the brand S5 was, I was very keen to try it for myself. I sampled the Renew Serum, targeting fine lines and wrinkles and loved it straight away. My favourite thing about it is its smell, it’s very slightly sweet and fresh and you can either apply it as a separate layer (it glides on your face) or you can blend a few drops of the serum into your usual moisturiser, applying gently onto cleansed face & neck. This serum is targeted at reducing the appearance of wrinkles for younger looking skin but you can use it as a boost if you feel your skin need an extra something – especially in this cold weather. I enjoyed the product and felt that, having used it for a few days, my skin responded well and looked happier overall. And because it’s organic and so natural, I feel that I’m using only the very best.
S5‘s Renew Serum contains Antarctic Glycoproteins (produced by a unique bacteria found at the bottom of a glacier in antarctica, these natural proteins deliver a 44% reduction in wrinkle depth and a 128% increase in type 1 collagen production), Botanical Peptides (with a freezing effect. Clinically proven to inhibit muscle contraction and smooth the appearance of deep expression lines) and Low Molecular Weight Natural Hyaluronic Acid (locks moisture into skin, reduces skin hyper reactivity and stimulates epidermal regeneration).

I’ve always liked using rose-based products because of their delicate scent and the gorgeous hydration they provide, so I’m always on the lookout for new products containing rose. But I’m not a huge fan of face creams and have lately developed a taste for serums, gels and oils, which can limit my search. So when I came across Melvita’s Hydrating Facial Gel in the rose range I was intrigued and excited in equal measures and couldn’t wait to try it. The gel looks like a cream, so it’s not see through, but once you apply it on your face it’s instantly absorbed leaving your skin feeling silky and smooth and giving it a slight sheen. In the packaging, it’s described as a gel that is as fresh as the morning dew, and I have to tell you that I couldn’t agree more. It contains rose floral water and rose seed milk to hydrate and hold in the moisture as well as wild rose petal extract to help stimulate the ‘water channels’ and help absorb it. I use it on its own twice a day and that feels enough to keep my skin feeling and looking plump. I strongly recommend it especially if you feel like you want a very light yet effective product. I can always tell how much I like a product when I used it sparingly and ban it from my boyfriend…
“MELVITA is a pioneer in organic cosmetics and has grown to become one of France’s leading brands of natural and organic cosmetics. Resolutely organic. Because we are convinced that the organic commitment is one of the keys to the future of the planet.”
Melvita’s Hydrating Facial Gel is £24.00 available at www.melvita.com.
If you feel that your skin needs a little boost now and again, try adding some serum to your beauty regime as it will help to nourish your skin more deeply, giving your complexion some brightness. For a versatile hydrator Green People have a great new product called Hydrating Firming Serum. It’s a clear, gel-like texture that you can apply directly on your face (I love that it doesn’t feel sticky and that it’s absorbed quickly) or you can mix it into your moisturiser. You can also wear it mixed in with your foundation for great hydration and all-day cover. It contains organic chamomile, seaweed and rose geranium, which give it a beautiful, delicate smell. The main benefits you will find when wearing the serum are its anti-ageing properties, as it helps the skin’s natural collagen protection reducing the appearance of fine wrinkles. It also acts as a toner to firm the skin, and because it’s 96% certified organic you can rest assured that you’re feeding your skin the best ingredients. Use sparingly morning and evening, and apply to the skin with a light tapping motion.
Green People is a great brand that is certified with the organic food federation. It’s a really nice collection that is made without Parabens, Lanolin, ethyl alcohol, artificial perfumes, petrochemicals, phthalates and colorants.
Price £11.95, suitable for vegans and vegetarians.
There’s been a lot of hype recently about beauty products that contain Argan oil – hair hydrators, in particular, that nourish deeply seem to be everywhere you look, and the truth is they really work. Also known as the gold of Morocco, this luxurious oil has been used for centuries in Africa for cooking and a number of beauty regimes. But when it comes to skincare, La Maison de l’Argan’s ar457 collection really is the creme de la creme. When the brand’s founder discovered Argan oil he fell in love with its texture – it really does feel incredibly silky – and its fantastic properties, and he created the range combining traditional methods with sophisticated modern techniques to produce argan oil-rich hyperdense compounds that produce outstanding, long-lasting benefits.
I tried the Elixir Metaserum [lyf], which is a great anti-ageing facial hydrator that firms the skin whilst giving it elasticity. It contains highly concentrated active ingredients including Argan oil and Padina Pavonica, which are perfect to combat dryness and leaves your complexion looking fresh and glowing (especially if used overnight). The serum feels very smooth when you massage it into your skin and has a lovely sweet yet nutty smell to it. The effect – when used for the recommended 20 days – is intense hydration, which revitalizes and moisturizes the skin. It also targets wrinkles and restores the balance in any greasy or dry areas you may have whilst protecting it from free radicals. And you can also use this product as a rescue serum for unexpected spots, minor burns, splitting nails, dry hair lengths…(it’s a real all-rounder!)
This product really is a luxury product that I strongly recomend if you want to invest in a good serum. It’s not cheap but it does last you a long time as you only need a small amount at any one time. For more information go to:
Argan oil is undoubtedly one of the rarest vegetable oils in the world, and consequently one of the most expensive due to its small and slow productivity rate. It has the appearance of a dense, golden liquid at room temperature and is extremely rich and diverse both in minerals and vitamins. It is considered a luxury oil by many.
